On July 26, Reps. Jared Huffman (D-Calif.) and Ed Case (D-Hawaii) introduced the Sustaining America's Fisheries for the Future Act. This much anticipated legislation would reauthorize the Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Act (MSA) and bring our nation's landmark fisheries law into the 21st century.
If passed, this bold legislation would update our current fisheries management system to lessen the effects of climate change, reduce bycatch, rebuild fish stocks, improve collection and use of data, and promote healthy habitat for our fish. Our ocean has the ability to provide food and recreation, but it needs protecting, before it's too late.
Tell your members of Congress that renewing our landmark U.S. fisheries law is vital to the health of our fisheries and coastal communities.
