LESS THAN ONE-THIRD OF CANADA'S FISHERIES ARE CONSIDERED HEALTHY. ADD YOUR NAME AND TELL THE GOVERNMENT TO FIX THIS CRISIS.

For six years Oceana Canada has audited the health of wild fish and how the government is managing fisheries. Canada is failing its oceans and coastal communities, but we can change this.

Fewer than a third of Canada’s fisheries are healthy and most critically depleted fish populations don’t have a plan in place to help them recover. The number of healthy fisheries has decreased since 2017, with no meaningful improvement to many of the indicators of good fisheries science, monitoring and management.

In the face of overfishing and accelerating climate change and biodiversity loss, the need to rebuild wild fish populations has never been more urgent. The Canadian government can fix this, but they need to see wide support from people like you.

Sign the petition to email the Minister of Fisheries and Oceans Canada and demand that the government do a better job of managing Canada’s fisheries and prioritize healthy oceans filled with fish.

Justin

Government of Canada
