YOU HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO IMPROVE CANADA'S PLASTIC BAN

The Canadian government is finalizing the national ban on single-use plastics. Have your voice heard and help us push for a ban that saves our oceans.

At the end of 2021, the Canadian government released its draft regulations for the long-anticipated single-use plastic ban. The proposed ban is an opportunity for Canada to begin correcting the plastic disaster that affects us all. Our experts have submitted comments on how to make this ban more effective, but we need your support to see our recommendations turned into law.

As currently proposed, the ban has loopholes that allow industry to create more harmful single-use plastics, allows for the manufacture and export of the plastic items on the ban list – and it will take another two years for the ban to come into effect. By waiting until 2024, as many as 32 billion plastic bags, 6 billion straws and 1.6 billion take-out containers could be thrown away or end up in our environment.

JOIN US AND TELL PRIME MINISTER JUSTIN TRUDEAU AND MINISTER OF ENVIRONMENT AND CLIMATE CHANGE CANADA, STEVEN GUILBEAULT, TO STRENGTHEN THE PLASTIC BAN AND IMPLEMENT IT THIS YEAR.
