BREAKING: Comprehensive bill introduced in Congress that would reduce single-use plastics polluting our oceans. The Break Free From Plastic Pollution Act would phase out unnecessary single-use plastics, including plastic carryout bags and polystyrene foam food containers; protect fence-line communities by putting a moratorium on new plastic facilities across the country; and shift the burden of plastic waste to the companies producing it.
We must seize this opportunity. The equivalent of roughly two garbage trucks full of plastic enters our oceans every minute. You’ve seen the result: Dolphins, whales and other marine life killed by ingesting plastic debris or being entangled in it. Now is the time for the federal government to act.
Tell your members of Congress to protect our oceans and marine life from plastic pollution.
