Tell Congress: Save the Endangered Species Act from Extinction

Southern sea otters, green sea turtles, West Indian manatees and many other beloved ocean animals would be extinct – gone forever – if not for the Endangered Species Act.

The Endangered Species Act is one of our nation's most important, successful and popular laws – It has prevented 99 percent of the species under its care from going extinct!

But now this landmark law faces grave attacks from anti-environment interests in Congress. Imperiled ocean animals need you to speak up on their behalf, before it’s too late.

Tell your members of Congress: Protect imperiled ocean life by opposing any legislation that would weaken the Endangered Species Act.

Petition Text

Dear Member of Congress:

I’m writing today as your constituent to encourage you to vote against any bills that would weaken the Endangered Species Act.

The Endangered Species Act is one of our nation's most successful and popular laws. Passed with overwhelming bipartisan support, the Act has prevented 99 percent of the species under its care from going extinct.

I support the Endangered Species Act and the marine wildlife it protects, and I’m counting on you to be my voice in Congress. Please vote against any bills that would weaken the Act.

Since being enacted in 1973, the Endangered Species Act has prevented hundreds of species from disappearing forever and has contributed to the recovery of many more. It is our safety net for imperiled fish, plants and wildlife. The Act is a success story – without it we would have lost many important marine species to extinction, including Southern sea otters, green sea turtles, West Indian manatees and Chinook salmon.

As a voter and your constituent, I am asking you to defend this important law by voting against all efforts to weaken, undermine or degrade the Endangered Species Act.

Sincerely,
