Canada's oceans need your help.
Canada has the world’s longest coastline, with an ocean surface area of 7.1 million square kilometres, or 70 per cent of its land mass. Overfishing, bycatch and ghost gear have put people’s livelihoods and important species, like blue sharks, narwhals and North Atlantic right whales, at risk of disappearing forever. Plastic pollution kills marine life, seafood fraud threatens our health and our oceans, and increasing pressure from human activity is harming marine habitats. But it’s not too late.
Oceana Canada believes that Canada has a national and global obligation to manage our natural resources responsibly and help ensure a sustainable source of protein for the world’s growing population. We work with First Nations, academics, fishers, civil society and the federal government, running science-based campaigns that find practical solutions to help the oceans rebound and recover.
By restoring Canada’s oceans, we can strengthen our communities, reap greater economic and nutritional benefits, and protect our future.
Together, we can save the oceans and feed the world. Will you join us?
