Stand Up For Endangered Species

In recent months, the Trump administration has attacked the Endangered Species Act (ESA), including removing habitat protections and exempting oil and gas drilling in the Gulf of Mexico from the requirements of the law. 

Since March, the administration has: 

• Prioritized economic interests over science when deciding whether or not a species deserves protection;  

• Redefined what is considered “harm” to endangered species, weakening protections for the habitats these animals rely on to survive; and 

• Unilaterally eliminated key ESA protections for vulnerable marine life in the Gulf of Mexico to clear the way for offshore oil and gas drilling.  

This is completely unacceptable.  

Since 1973, the ESA has helped keep over 1,600 species of animals and plants from going extinct. It is a fundamental protection for our natural world. The Trump administration, however, continues to weaken this landmark law. That's why we need your voice now.
