THE END TO NEW OIL AND GAS MUST NOT BE DELAYED

The government has committed to end new oil and gas exploration, but until we stop all new developments for good, UK seas remain at risk.

In November 2025, the government finally confirmed it will introduce new laws to ban all new exploration for fossil fuels. This is a huge victory, but so far, no legislation has been published.

Until it's written into law, this commitment is not guaranteed. We need watertight legislation to ensure oil and gas exploration becomes a thing of the past.

But the harm won’t stop by ending new exploration alone. Oil and gas developments already in the pipeline mean Big Oil will continue to wreck our seas, and marine wildlife will pay the price.

The climate-and ocean-wrecking Rosebank oilfield is awaiting a final decision on whether it does go ahead. The UK Government must refuse permission.

For the sake of our seas, we must make sure new oil and gas is off the table.

Let’s keep fighting until our seas are protected: join our calls for no new oil and gas.
