TELL THE EU: SAVE THE MEDITERRANEAN SEA

The Mediterranean is one of the most biodiverse seas, home to iconic species like dolphins, corals, and deep-sea sharks. But it’s also the most overfished sea in Europe, with 60% of  fish populations - under the Western Mediterranean multiannual plan - subject to overfishing.

Destructive fishing practices like bottom trawling are devastating fragile habitats, including deep-sea coral reefs and seagrass meadows. These ecosystems are crucial for marine life and play a vital role in carbon storage.

We’re calling on the EU and Mediterranean countries to take urgent action to protect this unique sea.

Add your name to demand:

  • A ban on bottom trawling below 800 metres to safeguard vulnerable deep-sea ecosystems.

  • End overfishing by setting science-based fishing opportunities to restore fish populations above sustainable levels

The Mediterranean Sea is at a tipping point. Without decisive action, we risk losing its rich biodiversity and the livelihoods that depend on it.

Sign now to tell EU leaders: Protect the Mediterranean before it’s too late.
