TELL THE EU: DEFEND YOUR RIGHT TO KNOW WHAT SEAFOOD YOU EAT
Right now, lack of traceability makes it nearly impossible to know the full story behind much of the seafood sold in the EU. While fresh and frozen fish must include information like the species and where and how it was caught, that’s not the case for processed products like canned tuna, fish fingers, or surimi.
Having this basic information on all seafood would help trace what we eat and ensure that products linked to illegal fishing and unethical working conditions do not end up on consumers’ plates.
We’re calling on the EU to be fully transparent and make it a requirement to display clear information for all seafood products.

Basic details such as species, origin, fishing gear and production method on all seafood products. Require restaurants, hotels and other mass caterers to provide this key information to their customers. Currently, it’s not mandatory for them.
The EU can defend your right to know what you eat, but they need to hear from you.
