ACT NOW TO PROTECT YOUR FAVORITE BEACH FROM OIL SPILLS

No one wants an oil spill in our oceans. But that risk has become a potential reality for the millions of Americans who live along or visit our country’s beautiful coasts and beaches.

The Trump administration’s Department of Interior (DOI) is drafting the next Five-Year Plan that outlines where the U.S. government will sell leases to oil and gas companies to drill off our coasts. The current proposal is considering opening up nearly all U.S. waters to offshore oil drilling.

That’s right…as of now, all areas in the Atlantic, Pacific, Arctic, and Gulf of Mexico are on the table. This puts coastal communities, fisheries, and ocean wildlife at risk from destructive offshore drilling and oil spills that could wash up on our shores.

When the oil companies drill, they spill, and these spills hurt economies and communities along our coasts. A single spill like the 2010 Deepwater Horizon disaster could devastate coastal states and their economies for many years. For decades there has been a strong bipartisan tradition to safeguard our coastal communities from more of these disasters, and recent polling found that the majority U.S. voters oppose the expansion of offshore drilling.

The DOI wants to hear from the public as it drafts its offshore drilling plan. Hundreds of millions of acres of ocean are in the balance. Now is the time to use your voice and call on the Trump administration to protect our coasts.

Stand up for our oceans and coastal communities today!
