TELL YOUR FLORIDA STATE LEGISLATORS: BAN INTENTIONAL BALLOON RELEASES
Balloons and their plastic ribbons, tie-off disks, clips, and other attachments can harm endangered sea turtles, seabirds, and other marine wildlife. In fact, studies show balloons are one of the deadliest kinds of ocean trash for key wildlife and are the deadliest form of plastic debris for seabirds. Despite the harmful impacts of balloons on ocean wildlife, it is currently still legal in Florida to release up to 10 balloons a day. Biodegradable balloons, which can persist for years, are exempt from these limits. Florida’s wildlife needs stronger protection.
That's why we need your voice today. Sign this letter to ask your state representatives to update Florida’s balloon release law so that we can protect our coasts from these deadly impacts.
