Seafood fraud, or the mislabeling and substitution of seafood, undermines honest domestic fishermen and local seafood businesses, poses a health risk to consumers, and threatens the sustainability of our oceans.
The solution is traceability and transparency throughout the entire seafood supply chain. The Protecting Honest Fishermen Act requires all seafood to be traceable from the moment it is caught to the point of final sale. This legislation will help improve systems for seafood safety, legality, traceability, and consumer information giving the end purchaser confidence that their seafood is safe, correctly labeled and legally caught.
Tell your Member of Congress to support the Protecting Honest Fishermen Act to defend honest fishermen, seafood businesses, consumers and our oceans.
