URGE WORLD LEADERS TO PROTECT 30% OF OCEAN HABITAT BY 2030

Our oceans cover more than 70% of the planet, yet only about 8% of them are currently protected. That means most of our oceans remain at risk from horrible threats such as overfishing, bottom trawling, and other destructive activities. Along with climate change, these threats are altering our oceans in inconceivable ways. 

Thankfully, hope is on the horizon. In December of 2022, world leaders committed to the global goal of protecting 30% of ocean habitat by 2030. But now it’s time to hold them to their word.  

Science tells us that we must protect 30% of the ocean by 2030 to help stop the overexploitation of marine life, combat the worst effects of the climate crisis, and ensure an equitable and healthy future for the next generations.  

We know that when our oceans are well protected, they thrive. Coastal ecosystems are particularly important for capturing and storing carbon dioxide, protecting communities from rising sea levels, and providing food and livelihoods to those who live in these areas.  

Our oceans need YOUR help today. Urge world leaders to deliver on their commitment to protect 30% of ocean habitat by 2030. The time to act is now!
