Amazon has a plastic problem — Oceana has estimated that up to 26 million pounds of the company’s plastic waste from 2021 will end up in our waterways and oceans. The plastic film it uses can be deadly to marine life.

The good news is Amazon already knows how to solve this problem, having phased out plastic packaging in major markets across the globe — but not in the United States. When polled, 87% of customers want to see it happen. And last year, nearly 49% of investor shares voted for a shareholder resolution calling for the company to take action on plastic. It could have passed if insiders had supported it.

On May 24, 2023, Amazon shareholders will get another chance, and you, as a shareholder, have a say in delivering a win for the oceans. Will you pledge to vote YES on Item 22 to reduce plastic packaging?
