PLEDGE TO TACKLE PLASTIC POLLUTION

The oceans face a massive and growing threat from something you encounter every day: plastics.

Did you know an estimated 33 billion pounds of plastic floods into our oceans every year? This is roughly equivalent to dumping two garbage trucks full of plastic into the oceans every minute.

As a result, marine animals from fish and sea turtles to dolphins and seabirds suffer when entangled in plastics and from ingesting plastics.  As plastic production grows and single-use plastics continue to pour into our oceans, you can help to protect marine animals as well as our communities and climate.

Will you pledge to help the oceans by tackling plastic pollution in 2023?

You Can Pledge To:

  • Commit to reusable alternatives instead of single-use plastic utensils, straws, grocery bags, produce bags, and bottles.
  • Refuse single-use plastic utensils and food containers whenever possible and advocate for plastic-free alternatives.
  • Use your voice to tell decision makers to support policies to reduce single-use plastic production and use.
  • Support groups like Sailors for the Sea Powered by Oceana that fight to reduce the production and use of single-use plastic.

I Pledge to help our oceans by doing my part to reduce single-use plastic.
