President Obama: Stop seafood fraud

World leaders are gathering at the “Our Ocean” conference in Washington, D.C. next month, and we need you to make sure seafood fraud is on their minds. An Oceana study found mislabeled seafood for sale across the country—only seven out of 120 red snapper samples were actually red snapper. With consumers like you being cheated, and illegally-caught seafood coming through our ports with falsified labels, we need to take action.

Clear seafood traceability and a commitment to stop illegal seafood at U.S. ports will help keep our seafood labels honest and reliable, so that consumers will know exactly what they’re getting.

Tell President Obama to require traceability for all seafood sold in the U.S. to fight fraud today, and ensure all seafood is safe, legally caught and honestly labeled.
